Fully drill-free mounting only works on standing-seam metal roofs, using clamps that grip the seam. On RV rubber (TPO/EPDM) or fiberglass roofs, every reliable method eventually fixes into the roof skin.
Z brackets use self-tapping screws with sealing washers — the watertightness comes from sealing each penetration with a compatible lap sealant (e.g. Dicor on rubber roofs). Plan bracket positions once, seal every screw, and the install stays dry for years. Our kit's ST5.5×32 mm self-tapping screws with washers are sized for exactly this job.
4 per panel — one at each corner — for panels up to about 200W. For larger rigid panels many installers add 2 more along the long edges (6 per panel).

The U30 rail kit builds a load-spreading frame for a neat row of 4 panels on a home roof — rails carry the load, clamps grip each frame, panels can be positioned along the rail.

End and mid clamps fit frames from 1.18″ to 1.38″ (30–35 mm) thick — this covers the vast majority of standard framed 100W–500W modules. Measure your panel's frame edge before ordering; inside that range, the clamps lock it solid.
Yes. Brackets and rails are anodized aluminum; all fasteners are stainless steel (M6 bolts, flat washers, flange nuts; 410 stainless self-drilling screws). Aluminum + stainless is the standard marine-grade combination — no rust streaks on decks or roofs, and the sets are salt-spray tested.
Both kits are true DIY. The U30 kit includes the M6 Allen key, so you only add a drill/driver and a tape measure. The Z bracket set needs a drill plus sockets for the M6 hardware. No specialty PV tools.
Yes — any screw that penetrates a roof should be sealed. The U30 kit ships EPDM rubber pads under the rail line for waterproofing; roof-deck screws should still get a bead of roofing sealant. On RV roofs use self-leveling lap sealant compatible with your roof material; on shingles, follow local flashing practice.
The U30 suits flat and pitched roofs over solid substrates — brick, asphalt shingle, flat tile, and corrugated or trapezoid metal roofs where the self-drilling screws can bite into the deck or purlins. For standing-seam metal roofs, seam clamps (no drilling) are the better route.
